Opening Festival

As with each of its major editions since 2006, lille3000 will launch Utopia with an opening festival. Once again, this will be a participatory event, prepared several months in advance with local residents. Creative workshops will be held throughout the city on the afternoon of the inauguration day. A psychedelic-tropical festival will take over the city of Lille in a new form, with a succession of immersive and participatory artistic proposals from midday to midnight. For this edition, the opening festival will embrace the theme of nature. The public will be invited to join the Utopia adventure and immerse themselves in magical and psychedelic worlds. FEATURING: Art Point M, Tom Van der Borght, Cie du Tire-Laine, Flonfons, Groupe F, Les Plasticiens Volants, Orchestras and ensembles from th Lille European Metropolis and the Hauts-de-France region… The Parade will start from the Pont Le Corbusier, passing by the Rue Faidherbe, to the Grand’Place and the rue Nationale and finally ascending the Quai du Wault for a festive and pyrotechnical finale. In the city centre of Lille, the public will be invited to explore different spaces to immerse themselves in the worlds of the artists invited especially for the opening of Utopia. Events will take place simultaneously in several immersive spaces, with many highlights in store. The programme includes: a zero waste fashion show, a fairy garden, a costume ball, dance floors and open-air concerts, pyrotechnics, inflatable and luminous installations, drag shows, make-up and hair workshops, and more.
